In the presence of current students, former alumni and professors, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and the University of Luxembourg celebrated the tenth year group for the "Masters in Information Systems Security Management" (MSSI) on 31 January 2019.

LIST, a partner from the outset

The result of a partnership initiated in 2006 between the two institutions, the MSSI Master's degree has continued to see the training of IT security management professionals. The past decade has been marked by ten year groups (with an eleventh just started), more than 150 graduates and European recognition within the IT security field. Having contributed towards the development of the programme and courses from the very outset, LIST is hugely proud of this achievement.

An expert in security and risk management at LIST, Nicolas Mayer teaches classes on risk management and ISO/IEC 27001, a standard defining organisational requirements for the implementation of information security management systems. In addition, in 2012 Nicolas Mayer took over from Eric Dubois, Head of the IT for Innovative Services (ITIS) Department, as Head of Master's studies alongside Yves Le Traon, a professor at the University of Luxembourg. One of his main tasks in this role is recruitment, programme management and student supervision, especially in terms of their career plan in their last semester of training.

A Master's Degree always at the cutting edge

Open to all professionals eager to grow and develop their knowledge and skills in analysis, interpretation and the application of suitable solutions in the IT security field, the ISSM Master's degree can be completed over two years part-time. It is run in English at the Belval Campus, University of Luxembourg.

The course content is reviewed regularly to ensure the closest possible alignment with market needs. Recently, European cyber security requirements have been worked into the course, and between now and September, blockchain and artificial intelligence technologies will be introduced.

Registrations for the twelfth year, due to begin in September 2019, will be open from May, at the University of Luxembourg directly.
