On September 12th, Deputy Prime Minister Etienne Schneider announced the official launch of the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA) together with its first CEO, Marc Serres. “Luxembourg has always been a courageous country, we will be one of the first movers in Europe to seize the opportunities brought by the new space”.
By this new major initiative, Luxembourg will not only benefit from a new agency but build, inform and animate an entire promising ecosystem. To make the country be recognised on the map as a key actor in space, the LSA counts on key partners to support the 4 pillars of its strategy:
- Space Expertise with SES, GLAE, Chamber of Commerce
- Space Innovation with Luxinnovation, IPIL, Technoport
- Space Skills with the University of Luxembourg, ADEM, Luxembourg Science Sector
- Space Funding with SNCI, FNR and the Luxembourg Space Tech Angels
Further cooperation also includes opportunities for people studying in Luxembourg since the University of Luxembourg decided to help train the next generation of space experts & researchers by suggesting very soon an interdisciplinary Space Master.
Even if Luxembourg launched its own agency, the collaboration with the ESA will remain very important as it represents a unique European body offering great resources. At this occasion, Jan Woerner, ESA General Director, cordially greeted this initiative.
“We will make a great job together and continue helping companies of this sector be successful” concluded new CEO, Marc Serres.
