ISACA, the association for IT and information systems professionals, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Luxembourg. We met with Roland Bastin, President of ISACA Luxembourg, to discuss the missions of the association, its biggest achievements and future projects.
What are the missions and main role of ISACA Luxembourg?
ISACA Luxembourg is a non-profit membership association for IT and information systems professionals. It is the local chapter of the ISACA global community which is committed to providing its diverse constituency of more than 140,000 professionals worldwide with the tools they need to achieve individual and organizational success. The benefits offered through our globally accepted certifications (CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, COBIT5, etc.), research and community collaboration result in greater trust in, and value from, information systems. ISACA Luxembourg provides its members with education, resource sharing, advocacy, professional networking and other benefits.
Can you tell us more about the history of the association in Luxembourg?
ISACA Luxembourg started 10 years ago as the spin-off of ISACA BeLux chapter. It was founded by a small group of 7 individuals with similar jobs auditing controls in the computer systems.
What are the milestones and biggest achievements?
Since 2008, ISACA Luxembourg has grown its members and counts today close to 300 members. Majority of our members are certified CISA, CISM, GRISC, CGEIT or COBIT5. This represents a big achievement in the context of Digital transformation, and Cloud computing since our people help business technology professionals and their enterprises to manage their IT risk and realize the positive potential of technology. Nowadays, Isaca Luxembourg organises after-work conference every month on many topics of interest for IT professionals.
What are the next and future projects?
Cloud Computing, Digital Trust, GDPR, IoT, Blockchain, etc. represent new opportunities, challenges and risks for the IT professional. Continuous professional development is a necessity and ISACA Luxembourg will extend its professional education to include cyber security training (CSX), Internal Audit Analytics, Governance of Enterprise IT, Implementing The General Data Protection Regulation Process.
