ISACA Luxembourg Chapter is privileged to welcome Dr. Sebastien Varrette, who, along with Dr. Pascal Bouvry, leads University of Luxembourg (UL)'s High-Performance Computing Center. He will share his expertise on September 20th, while also celebrating the 10th anniversary of ISACA Luxembourg.
Accelerating modelling and simulation in the data deluge era requires the appropriate hardware and infrastructure at scale, which makes supercomputers and High Performance Computing (HPC) facilities strategic equipments at the heart of major fundings in most countries.
The University of Luxembourg is active since 2007 to develop its own infrastructure and expertise in the HPC and Big Data (Big Data) domains.
After presenting an overview of the challenges and opportunities linked to these domains, the current state of developments will be briefly reviewed in the context of the national and European HPC strategy in which Luxembourg is starting to play a role.
Dr. Sebastien Varrette is a research associate at the University of Luxembourg (UL). Expert in the deployment and management of High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems, Sebastien, along with Prof. Pascal Bouvry, leads the UL HPC platform developments since 2007.
His main research interests lie in the domains of security and performance of parallel and distributed computing platforms, such as HPC and Cloud Computing infrastructures.
He participates as chair, track chair and committee member on various conferences and events (IEEE CloudNet, CloudCom, OPTIM, PCGrid, ICPADS, IPDPS, HPCS etc.).
Sebastien participates in several technical workgroups, EU projects and committees where he represents Luxembourg (Grid5000, ISO/TC 307 "Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies"), PRACE, ETP4HPC, several COST action (IC1305 “Network for Sustainable Ultrascale Computing (NESUS)”.
Dr. Varrette has co-authored 4 books and over 9 Computer Science book chapters and over 80 research articles in scientific journals and international conference proceedings.
The conference is free of charge for ISACA members, our partner associations as well as any persons interested in the topic. Should you reserve a seat for the conference and not attend without a valid reason, an invoice of 25,00€ will be sent.
